Membership Criteria

You must live and/or work in County Durham and surrounding areas.
You must be a practising or aspiring artist or craftsperson.
Members who wish to take part in exhibitions or other Interface Arts events are expected to attend meetings and assist in organising these events.
The membership fee is £24 per year renewable in June.

Aim

Interface Arts is a democratic and co-operative organization. It aims to promote wider exposure to, and participation in the arts in County Durham and its surrounding area using the skills of the membership to facilitate arts, crafts and performance activities.

Objectives

  • To facilitate and promote, shows, events, exhibitions and performances, by and with Interface Arts members.
  • To facilitate opportunities for members to learn new skills and experiment with ideas within the broad concept of art, from other Interface Arts members or invited speakers.
  • To provide an arts forum, for the exchange of ideas.
  • To provide public workshops with the aim of promoting wider participation in the arts.

Membership

Interface Arts consists of artists from every discipline, and needs support from all its members. We charge a moderate fee to facilitate membership from all sections in the community and need committed people;Open to all 

  • Who are 18 years or over
  • Who live or work in Co Durham and its surrounding areas
  • For whom creativity forms a significant part of their lives
  • For whom art is a substantial part of their lives.
  • Who will cooperatively assist in bring art work to the widest audience for the purposes of sales and education.
  • Who will endeavour to bring art to  the community.
  • Who are willing to staff shows and exhibitions where necessary.
  • Who will share their knowledge or training with other members in workshops or other events.
  • Who will report on exhibitions or events from the perspective of business or aesthetics.
  • Who will bring to the attention of Interface Arts; venues, training or other facilities which will enhance the opportunities for all member artists, and the reputation of Interface Arts.
  • Who agree to abide by the Interface Arts Constitution and standard procedures and support its aims and objectives
  • Who have paid the annual subscription fee (our subscription year runs from June 1st to May 31st)
  • Whose application has been accepted by the Treasurer on behalf of the Interface Arts Committee.

Benefits

The following benefits are included in membership:

  • Regular updates which inform members of the work of the Interface Committee and gives news and details of exhibitions and opportunities for artists.
  • Membership enables networking and joint projects with individual artists and groups within Interface Arts and provides the opportunity to share contact information and artistic media details with other members of Interface Arts.
  • Your own page on the Interface Arts website.
  • Liaising with other artists.
  • Social activities, lectures etc. which can be organised by any member.
  • Attendance at committee meetings which are open to all members.

On Joining

You will be:

  • Sent a receipt for your files.
  • Added to the Interface Arts circulation list.
  • Sent details by the Interface Arts web site manager who will advise how you can upload your details and  images to your dedicated page.
